It's no secret that Leinster have been searching for a new scrum-half. With Eoin Reddan and Isaac Boss on the advanced side of 35, and Luke McGrath being the only other senior option they have actively admitted that they are searching for a scrumhalf.
According to Peter O'Reilly in the Sunday Times, they have found their man and are expecting to announce the signing this week. That player is 24-year-old New Zealand Jamison Gibson-Park. Gibson-Park has recently moved from the Blues to the Hurricanes, and has 30 Super Rugby caps to his name.
He will compete with 23-year-old Luke McGrath for a starting job, and will qualify to play for Ireland after three years of residency. Gibson-Park has represented the New Zealand Maori's but not the sevens team or the All Blacks.
The scrum-half was the starter for the Blues before he moved south to Wellington to back up All Black TJ Perenara. He's got a quick pass, and an eye for a break. It's by no means a big-name signing, but could have an impact with Leinster similar to past imports like Chris Whittaker or Munster's Paul Warwick.
