One Irish Star Makes Shortlist For European Player Of The Year

Jamie Heaslip has made the shortlist for the EPCR European Player of the Year. The Leinster captain was present throughout his side's run to last weekend's semi-final in which they lost narrowly to Toulon. The 31-year-old is statistically ranked as the number one ball carrier in the Champions Cup.

Also included on the list are three Englishmen. Nick Abendanon of Clermont, Steffon Armitage of Toulon and Billy Vunipola of Saracens. The final nominee is New Zealander Fritz Lee of Clermont.

Last year's winner was Steffon Armitage while the last Irish player of the year was Rob Kearney in 2012.

The winner will be announced following the final between Clermont and Toulon on May 2nd.
