Last month, Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor refused to rule out the possibility of signing Munster legend Peter Stringer. The former Ireland scrum-half is on the lookout for a new club after being told that his contract would not be renewed by Bath when it runs out at the end of the season. At the same time, Leinster are looking for scrumhalves to cover Eoin Reddan and Isaac Boss for the Rugby World Cup.

Stringer is preparing to face Leinster in the Champions Cup quarterfinal on Saturday and looks set to feature in the Bath squad that will be announced tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the game, Stringer has said that he wouldn't turn down a potential move to Munster's arch-rivals:

The first I heard of it was when it blew up on Twitter and in the media. I’m not going to rule out any team. I want to make the most of the last few years.

Judging by the reaction to the original comments from Matt O'Connor, Leinster fans would be delighted with the signing, while Munster would love if the prodigal son returned despite their plethora of options for next year that will include Duncan Williams, Cathal Sheridan and Tomas O'Leary while Conor Murray is on World Cup duty.

Both sides have now expressed an interest, so it remains to be seen if a deal can be done. Until then, Stringer will be looking to plot Leinster's downfall this weekend.
