The latest rugby star to switch codes finally has a team. Former Rugby League star Jarryd Hayne has reportedly been given a trial contract by NFL team the Detriot Lions. Last November, Hayne announced he was giving up his NRL career to focus on a switch to the NFL.

The former NRL MVP was apparently pursued by several NFL teams including the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks, but Hayne has chosen to sign with the Detriot Lions, after their veteran running back Reggie Bush sang his praises. Bush is a big fan of NRL and has met Hayne many times including in the above picture where he gives Hayne a Lions jersey.

It's likely that Hayne will be tried as a running back behind the likes of Bush and Joique Bell, but it could be a while before he sees any meaningful action. Do you think he will end up making it?
