Robin Williams, who was found dead last night at the age of 63, had plenty of wonderful material on a host of sports - it wasn't just golf that found itself on the end of his savage wit. It's pretty well-known that he was also a fan of rugby and a keen cyclist. To mark the passing of a true giant of comedy and the cinema, we look back on the best-known Robin Williams sporting stories, scenes and routines.

 How he viewed football

He was a huge cycling fan.

The movie "The Best of Times"

Largely forgotten today, this was his best sporting role, playing a guy tormented by a dropped pass in his high school football days.

His friendship with Jonah Lomu

If we've learned one thing today, it's that Williams was pretty much universally adored. You might not have loved all of his comedy, or every one of his roles, but he was such an easy personality to feel a faraway affection for.

Jonah Lomu, with his ups and downs, tends to inspire a similar love among rugby aficionados around the world. That the two were good mates was rather lovely.
