Ian Poulter Not Happy About Being Called A 'Lil Girl' Over Faldo Criticism

Ian Poulter is shocked and disappointed at being dubbed a 'lil girl' by the President of the PGA in America, Ted Bishop.

Like everyone else, Ian Poulter released an autobiography in recent weeks, in which he slagged off Nick Faldo and Tom Watson for their efforts as Ryder Cup captain.

Poulter described Watson's decisions as 'utterly bizarre' while he lashed out at Nick Faldo for calling Sergio Garcia's 2008 performance 'useless', indicating that uselessness reigned at the 2008 Ryder Cup but it wasn't necessarily Garcia's fault.

Faldo has lost a lot of respect from players because of what he said... 2008 is the only Ryder Cup we’ve lost in the last 15 years. And he was captain. So who’s useless? I think Faldo might need to have a little look in the mirror.

However, the PGA chief, Ted Bishop, couldn't help but reflect on the fact that Nick Faldo has won six major championships, while Ian Poulter has won six less than that.

He barked back on social media, aching for a time when lads who won little in the way of silverware or green jackets looked up to their sporting betters.

In a tweet which has since been deleted, he wrote.

@IanJamesPoulter -Faldo’s record stands by itself. Six majors and all-time RC points. Yours vs. His? Lil Girl. @NickFaldo006 @pgaofamerica.

Bishop then took his misivings to facebook, where he wrote even more scathingly.

Used to be athletes who had lesser records or accomplishments in a sport never criticized the icons.

'Tom Watson (8 majors and a 10-3-1 Ryder Cup record) and Nick Faldo (6 majors and all-time Ryder Cup points leader) get bashed by Ian James Poulter. Really? Sounds like a little school girl squealing during recess. C’MON MAN!

Poulter has been fairly damn hurt by the whole thing - and is conscientiously outraged at the fact that Bishop deploys the term 'lil girl' as an insult.

Is being called a “lil girl” meant to be derogatory or a put down? That’s pretty shocking and disappointing, especially coming from the leader of the PGA of America. No further comment.
