Ten years on since it first took place, the annual Hurling For Cancer charity match - which has raised in excess of €1.2m for cancer research services - returned to St. Conleth's Park in Newbridge on Tuesday evening as Jim Bolger's Stars took on Davy Russell's Best.

Wexford's 1996 All-Ireland winning manager Liam Griffin took charge of Bolger's team once again. Griffin was assisted by recently appointed Tipperary boss Liam Cahill.

Brian Cody managed Russell's team. The former Kilkenny manager didn't take too long of a break from the game before returning to the sidelines. Ursuala Jacob was one of Cody's selectors, the former All-Ireland winning captain with Wexford and current RTÉ pundit was on the sideline this year rather than on the pitch as she is expecting her first child.

Current players to line-out for Bolger's Stars included Limerick's Dan Morrissey, Kyle Hayes, Tom Morrissey and Darragh O'Donovan and Kilkenny's TJ Reid, Adrian Mullen and Miriam Walsh.
