Two weeks ago, the All Ireland hurling final delivered unto the fine hurling fans of this country the opportunity to raise their sport up onto a pedestal so high that even hawk-eye couldn't spot it. That day, the majesty of one of the greatest ever hurling finals was put up against a rather dour Euro 2016 qualifier between Ireland and Georgia and there was only ever going to be one winner.

The hurling snob was out in force, but even that can't compare to today's All Ireland football final. It's fair to say that Kerry's defeat of Donegal was decided on the tactics board. And while the low scoring scrappiness of it won't be winning too many new fans, it was apparently a great advertisement for hurling.

Judging by the sheer amount of tweets on the final whistle today, the trend is multiplying so let's remind everyone that hurling snob is a term of endearment that must be earned. These people are well on their way.
