Fermanagh Ladies' Caroline Little was forced off during her side's intermediate quarter-final against Waterford at St Peregrine's in west Dublin today.

Heavily bandaged after finding herself on the end of an accidental smash to the face, Little came back onto the field at a critical period of the game to help secure a hard-fought win for the Ernesiders.

Her exploits strike another blow against against those who still might doubt the commitment and courage of female footballers, whatever their code.

Regardless of her obvious valour, one would still hope that the correct concussion prevention procedures were followed before allowing her to continue.
