You'll all remember that Kieran Donaghy called out Joe Brolly with his "What do you think of that Joe Brolly?" line after the All-Ireland final. It was in response to an Irish Daily Mail article which Brolly had written about how the Kerry production line had stopped.
In an interview with Weeshie Fogarty on Radio Kerry's Terrace Talk, Donaghy revealed that another article written by Brolly had inspired him while he was dogged with injury.
Joe, who in fairness was a fan of mine in my early days, Joe kind of had a go at me saying 'catch a falling star'. I had that article up in my gym, up on the wall for a long time when I was coming back. The dark mornings and the dark nights in the gym trying to get this groin right. I was looking at that article saying I want to prove him wrong. But you know, Joe is grand. He gives us a bit of stick, we've got to be able to give him a bit of stick back.
