Like his style of football or hate it, I'm fairly sure there isn't one Gaelic football fan out there who isn't intrigued by Jim McGuinness Sky Sports announcement and what he will bring to their coverage this summer.

And after speaking to him today, we're certainly looking forward to his first appearance on 6 June.

Chatting over video link from Glasgow to assembled media in London, McGuinness told Balls what it was in particular that attracted him to Sky Sports:

I like the opportunity to look at things and develop concepts. And I think that's very similar to what Sky Sports have had to do in their very first year.

It's a steady approach; it's a balanced approach, and I think that the chemistry between the pundits and everything, it works really well.

The former Donegal manager added his thoughts on what he would like to bring to the current set-up:

Later in the conversation, when speaking to John Fogarty of the Irish Examiner, McGuinness dismissed the death of Gaelic football and instead argued that it is in a very strong place, saying:

I think what's happening in the last number of years is that counties who weren't traditionally at the top table are fighting very very hard to get to the top table.
