Nicky O'Connell may be back in the Clare hurling squad after a much publicised apology but it seems the same won't be happening with Davy O'Halloran.

The pair had been excluded from the Clare panel after a high profile row with O'Halloran claiming that Davy Fitzgerald had been dishing out some unfair punishments to the younger members of his squad.

O'Connell, who distanced himself from the comments made by his former teammate, returned to the panel yesterday after a clear the air meeting. However, O'Halloran has taken a different route back to representing his county by switching codes and joining the footballers.

Clare senior footballer manager Colm Collins confirmed to the Examiner that O'Halloran would be available for selection ahead of the Championship campaign.

We took a week off after the league and he's in with us this week. He's an excellent footballer.

It will certainly be interesting to see if the Clare hurling boss will want to have his say on this latest development.
