A story that broke through the British tabloids this morning claimed that an English international had been arrested on suspicion of sex with an underage girl, the story has since been confirmed by a BBC reporter and the player's identity has been revealed.
The Sun originally reported that an "England ace" had been arrested by police at his home at 9.15am today on suspicion of having sex with a 15 year old girl, and BBC's Dan Roan has since confirmed that Sunderland's Adam Johnson is the player in question.

Three police cars with plain clothes officers arrived to arrest Johnson and conduct a search of his property, where a loaded firearm was also found, although it is believed to be legal. Forensic officers were also said to have conducted a search of his garage.
