Remember the good ole days? First of all, managers were rarely sacked and if they were, the club would write a carefully thought out official statement and then release it to the press in the usual way.

Not in 2014 my friends. Rivaldo has announced the sacking of his manager on Instragram today, which must surely be a footballing first.

The former Barcelona striker is player-chairman of Morgi Mirim, and decided to give manager Ailton the sack after a run of bad results. Once he had informed him in the dressing room, Rivaldo took to Instagram to tell fans:

It is not easy to put together a team quickly for a championship as tough as the Paulista," the former Brazil international said in a post on the photo-sharing app.

And I'd like to say that it wasn't his fault, but when the results don't come we need changes to get the players going again and as president that was the decision I had to take after the game at the Caninde (stadium).
