Niall Quinn's lavish mansion in northeast Kildare is up for sale - and it won't come cheap for any potential buyers.

Unsurprisingly for a guy like Quinny, Longstone Rath doesn't have the gaudy tackiness one would stereotypically associate with a footballer's home.

It is, however, luxuriously equipped. Located on 33 acres of pasture, the six-bedroom house comes with a floodlit tennis court/football pitch, a five bay electric horse walker, a floodlit, all-weather jumping ménage and an 'American barn'.

Inside, highlights include a bar, a self-playing piano and an African Grey parrot that does impressions of Quinn. Wife Gillian explained to the Irish Times that her father had been teaching it swear words, but it's unclear if the profane parrot will be included in the sale.

The Quinns returned to Ireland on Niall's retirement from football in 2002. They had originally intended to buy an existing house in the Eadestown area, with its combination of rural tranquility and easy access to Dublin and the airport. Instead, they opted for a custom-built pile to accomodate daughter Aisling's competitive equestrian ambitions. Herself and Gillian have scaled back on their horseback activities in recent years and feel that a smaller site in the area would be more suitable.

It can be all yours for a giveaway €2.5 million.
