Suarez was subsequently given a four month ban, the third ban for biting in his career, and speaking ahead of what could be his competitive debut for Barcelona, an 'El Classico' clash with Real Madrid this coming Saturday, Suarez has revealed how he thought his actions had destroyed his chances of a dream move to the Catalan giants.

I felt I had ruined my career. At first, I did not want anyone to know anything. I locked myself away with my family, but then I reflected on what I had done, I apologized and felt liberated.

Speaking to Spanish TV network TV3, Suarez then continued:

By then discussions with Barca had begun, and when Pere Guardiola, called me to tell me it was done, I began to cry, because of the situation I was living and the support that the club was offering me. I felt happy about the commitment the club had shown me. But I was still afraid that the repercussions of the incident might halt the deal. I knew that could happen.

Having completed a €81m move from Liverpool and signing a five year contract with Barcelona, Suarez completed his dream move and also expressed his desire to see out his playing days at the Nou Camp:
