Rumours have been rife for a while that Angel Di Maria may be set for the Old Trafford exit door. Originally it sounded like mere transfer speculation with the usual destination of PSG being listed. Although the story does seem to be gaining legs with Louis Van Gaal having some extremely interesting things to say yesterday.

Di Maria has struggled for form recently having made a bright start initially for the club. It is believed that the player is unhappy with life in Manchester following an attempted burglary on his home. Although the burglary was unsuccessful; it has had such an impact on Di Maria, who was in the house at the time, that he has moved his family into a new apartment.

Quoted by The Sunday Times, Van Gaal revealed that he would take personal factors into account when considering the players future.

When you see my history, that’s part of my philosophy. A player is not just a man who kicks the ball from A to B. His environment is influencing him. I shall always be open but I know that the commercial interests of the club and we have to respect that. You cannot give a lot of money for a player and next season put him out of your selection.

Questions are being asked about the teams current style of play and although results haven't been too bad, fans seem to be unhappy with the manager. Van Gaal himself is more positive about the team's prospects and goes on to talk about the relationship he has with the locker room.

It’s not a question, I can go for myself also but when I see this chemistry [at United] between myself and my players, I don’t have any doubts. We have to continue in our process. Of course, we have had disappointing moments but we can survive and we have the confidence to qualify for the Champions League.
