Keith Fahey returned to the League of Ireland at the end of last year after five years in England. In an excellent interview with Dan McDonnell, he spoke of his frustration with how the League had failed to advance in the mean time.

I'm not going to lie to you and say it's been brilliant... It's been a little bit disappointing. I just think, without being negative to the league or anything. . . some of the grounds haven't had a lick of paint since I've been away.

Fahey won the PFAI Player of the season for the 2008 season and spent five years with Birmingham City. It was during this time, he broke into Giovanni Trapattoni's Ireland team, scoring a crucial winner in Armenia, one of the most important victories in Ireland's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Now, he's back in Dublin and while he doesn't want to be too negative about the League, he feels too many mistakes are being made. He is particularly irked by ticket prices.

There's people paying good money into games - €15 is a lot of money to expect people to pay and some of the facilities are an absolute disgrace to be honest. That sort of stuff, it's disappointing.

Read the rest of Fahey's interview, in which he had a go at the facilities in Drogheda in particular, here.
