Henry Winter swims across the Tyne after losing Twitter bet.

When Alan Pardew was appointed Newcastle manager on a five year deal in 2010, Telegraph football writer Henry Winter did not believe in the long term viability of Pardew at the club. He bet fans on Twitter that we would swim across the Tyne if Pardew saw out the terms of that contract. Winter lost the bet when Mike Ashley gave Pardew a new eight year contract two weeks ago.

Winter honoured the bet yesterday and raised money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
