A Liverpool Record That Brendan Rodgers Certainly Did Not Want

May 30th, The FA Cup final. May 30th, Steven Gerrard's 35th birthday. It appeared scripted that the Liverpool captain would win one last trophy in his concluding season with the club. Aston Villa did not stick to the text though and came from behind to win the FA Cup semi-final.

The game not only marked the end of Gerrard's remaining opportunity to win silverware with his club of 17 years but also Brendan Rodgers' last chance to prevent an undesired stat being associated with his Liverpool tenure.

Brendan Rodgers is the first Liverpool manager since the 1950s to not win a trophy inside three seasons.

Previous to Rodgers, Phil Taylor, who was appointed in May 1956, was the last Liverpool manager to accomplish the unwanted feat.
