LEFT SIDE.. STRONG SIDE!
It's approaching 15 years since a high-school football movie set in the aftermath of the US civil rights movement hit Irish cinemas and quickly became a must-see film for anyone even slightly interested in sport, or for anyone interested in damn good films, actually.
Remember The Titans is a universally loved movie because it is packed with quotable lines, excellent sports choreography, emotionally gripping drama, and a cast that was full of emerging talent. Of course, there was some already established talent in there too.
Here is what the outstanding cast of Remember The Titans are up to today:
Denzel Washington - Coach Boone
Having taken a break from the Hollywood scene in 2014, Deznel is back.
He is currently filming 'The Magnificent Seven' with Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke, and has another film, 'The Equalizer 2' set for 2017. Since RTT Denzel starred in 'Training Day', 'Man On Fire', 'American Gangster', 'Flight', and '2 Guns' to name but a few, so he's done alright.
Will Patton - Coach Yoast
Coach Yoast is a busy, busy man.
Currently filming for two movies, 'The Scent of Rain & Lightning' with Maggie Grace, 'Leavey' which appears to be the story of a military dog unit in Iraq, and staring in two films that are completed and coming out in 2016 in 'You Can't Win' with Michael Pitt and Julia Garner, as well as 'American Honey' with Shia LaBeouf.
Prior to 2015, Patton had been a prolific TV and film actor appearing in the likes of '24', 'CSI', and 'Brooklyn's Finest'.
Wood Harris - Julius Campbell
Avon Barksdale starred in both 'Creed' and 'Ant Man', two big budget releases in 2015, and you can expect to see a lot more of him in 2016 too.
'Going Under' with Bruce Willis is coming out next year, and rather excitingly, 'Sweetwater', The story of the first African American contracted to play in the NBA, is out in 2017, and guess who plays the lead role?
Avon.
Ryan Hurst - Gerry Bertier
You probably cried when he wound up in a wheelchair as Bertier, so you'll be happy to know that a fully mobile Ryan Hurst has been a successful TV actor since RTT.
You should know him from Sons Of Anarchy, although maybe without recognising him at first, due to his massive beard. He is currently filming another TV series by the name of 'Outsiders', which should hit television sets in late 2016.
In 2015 he appeared in one episode of 'Axe Cop' called "Night Mission: The Extincter" which we seriously hope was a pisstake.
Donald Faison - Petey Jones
Turk from Scrubs would, obviously, star in Scrubs from 2001-2010 after RTT, but since then his roles haven't been as memorable.
After appearances in 'Pitch Perfect' and 'Kickass 2', Donald is currently filming for two movies with seem rather missable in 'Hot Bot' and 'The Perfect Match'.
Ryan Gosling - Alan Bosely
Best remembered for being an absolute liability at cornerback that was eventually replaced by Turk, having a complete asshole of a dad, and joining in the singing of 'Aint No Mountain High Enough' because he wasn't a massive racist in the film, Ryan Gosling has gone on to become a megastar.
You should see him in 'The Big Short' early in 2016, alongside Steve Carrell and Christian Bale, but Gosling has just completed 'The Nice Guys' with Russell Crowe, and has 'La La Land' with Emma Stone and J.K. Simmons in post production.
Craig Kirkwood - Rev
Having decided against a career in acting, Rev is now a criminal defence lawyer, having passed the California Bar Examination in 2006.
Good for him.
Kip Purdue - Sunshine
Suuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnshiiiiiiiiiiineeeeeee!
Appearances in 'House', 'ER', and 'Mad Men' were dotted in between a lot of movies since 2000, but aside from not having aged a day in 15 years (seriously, how?) Sunshine is currently filming another TV series called 'Outcast', and is in post-production for 'Untitled WWII Picture'. That sounds great, looking forward to that one in 2016.
Ethan Suplee - Louie Lastik
After featuring in 'My Name Is Earl', 'Raising Hope' and the underrated 'Wifred' since Remember The Titans, oh and a small movie called 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' too, Ethan is now in FAR better shape than he was back in 2000, and is currently has a film called Deepwater Horizon (with Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovic, and Kurt Russell) in post production for a 2016 release.
Heyden Panettiere - Fiesty/Annoying Coach's Daughter
Heyden went on to feature in 'Malcolm In The Middle', star in 'Heroes', and she is now married to Wladimir Klitschko.
She is also the star of TV show 'Nashville' alongside the wife of Coach Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights.
