In case you missed it, the world has been obsessed with the creature known as Left Shark for the past couple of days. And with good reason.

All hail Left Shark and all that jazz. But the world would not have Left Shark were it not for the overall vision of Dubliner Baz Halpin.

Halpin works as a creative director for Perry, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears among others, and according to those showbiz types he's in high demand due to his ability to make magic happen (we're paraphrasing for effect here)

Halpin told Billboard magazine that his desire to make magic happen knows no bounds.

I used to say, that’s ridiculous, we can never do that. Now I just say, ‘You want to fly in on a giant banana and burst into flames? We’ll make it work.

Halpin began working in the National Concert Hall before moving on to work for the king of Irish showbiz Michael Flatley. And now he's given the world Left Shark. If any of that sounds sarcastic, it's not intended to be, Halpin is obviously a very talented man and Left Shark has entertained hundreds of millions of people.

And just so we can console ourselves that this is sport related and we should be reporting on it, there's this wonderfully Irish comment on the above Instagram post of Halpin and Perry together.

We can all agree that this is 100% percent sport related, right? Good.
